Susan was born May 22, 1941 in Grand Forks to Marguerite and Harold Hanson. Susan attended public school and graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career at Cold Spring Elementary in Minnetonka, and then Alvarado, followed by Edgewood, Sunny Hollow and Basswood Elementary Schools in Osseo Area Schools Dist. 279; and retired after 36 years. She lived her life with grace, unwavering in her devotion and love for her family and friends. She has been a fighter, trying to stave off pancreatic cancer for the past 9 months and ultimately infections and pneumonia the past 3 weeks.

Susan enjoyed golfing, dancing, playing piano, humor and, for the last 3 winters, her home in Tucson. Susan is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Edwin of over 44 years, son Greg of Golden Valley and grandsons Jack and Harrison, son Ryan, daughter-in-law Mariana and granddaughter Anabel of Tucson, sister Mary of Denver, and Susan's sweet dog, Lily. Susan was always the bright ray of light for our family but now we must say goodbye to her beauty and live with the memories.  The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Fairview University Hospital. No memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers or gifts, her wishes were for donations to be sent in her memory towards pancreatic cancer research at Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota, c/o Minnesota Medical Foundation, PO Box 64001, University of Minnesota, Saint Paul, MN 55164-0001.
